A wise old King without a CROWN in Zimbabwe once taught me
My daughter, ‘royalty is the blueprint of God, it’s a calling’
So I sit here today, upset at those who mock the death of a PRINCE
Do not mock what you understand not
Lest the Lord sees it and it displeases Him
Fear God and honour the KING
For it was David who said, touch not his anointed
So at the fall of a King, the Psalmist of Israel mourned

It’s the End of an ERA
As the Iron Duke finally put his hat down
The end of a life well lived
An end of a purpose well sought
A Prince who knew what it meant to be homeless
A Prince who became an orphan when his Ma and Pa still lived
With no penny in his pocket
Or a change of clothes
But still royal blood gushed through his veins
So he arose and stood and searched his calling

A royal Prince born on a kitchen floor
So humble was his first breath
So cruel was life in front of him
Fled his home like Moses, in a cot made from an orange box
A mother’s real love he never knew
For his dear Ma was but a troubled soul
And needed him more
But fate took the Prince away from home
And brought him to the land of hope and glory
He gave up his throne and chose his DESTINY
When the time came, it was destiny over crown

A true love’s first kiss broke the spell
As a beautiful Princess fell in love with the lost Prince
It was the moment the IRON Duke of United Kingdom was born
He had left his home, his people and his Crown
A noble Prince of Britain he became
An honour he earned without seeking a crown
He married a woman who would shine brighter than him
But humbly he stood behind his QUEEN
A rock and fortress to her he became
A wind beneath her wings so strong
So she shone brighter than any STAR of her time
Because the Iron Duke held the candle for her
And allowed her to fly like an Eagle

So go well Oh Duke of Edinburgh
The HOLY city will shine brighter than ever
The bells of Jerusalem will sound again
You served, you conquered and you lived
It’s not just how you ended, but how you began your life journey
Thank you oh Old grand Duke of Edinburgh
Do put your HAT down with Pride Sir
For the life lessons you taught the world
Your story will be told to generations to come
To all races and cultures and peoples
That there lived a man who conquered what life threw at him
And served a people he chose as his destiny
A husband to a Queen
The longest serving British consort in History
A life well lived, a purpose well sought
It may be the END of an ERA for you Oh Iron Duke
But to me your END is a dawn of a NEW HOPE
